College of Santa Fe students threaten suit

COLLEGE OF SANTA FE STUDENTS ISSUE A WARNING TO SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS THE SCHOOL IS CURRENTLY PLANNING TO CLOSE DOWN AFTER THE SEMESTER ENDS IN MAY — SAYING IT IS 35-MILLION DOLLARS IN DEBT BUT STUDENTS DON T WANT THAT TO EFFECT THE TIME THEY HAVE LEFT — AND ARE WILLING TO GO TO COURT TO ENSURE A QUALITY EDUCATION SANTA FE BUREAU CHIEF GADI SCHWARTZ IS LIVE WITH WHAT THE STUDENTS ARE DEMANDING ITS NOT A LAWSUIT YET- BUT THIS PETITION IS SENDING A STRONG WARNING- STUDENTS PAID TUITION — AND THEY EXPECT TO GET THEIR MONEY S WORTH IF THEY DON T- THE SCHOOL S BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND ITS PRESIDENT MAY FIND THEMSELVES IN COURT So we have 17 pages of signatures 17 PAGES 2 COLUMNS WITH NAMES OF MORE THAN 300 STUDENTS WHO ARE CALLING OUT COLLEGE ADMINISTRATORS We were informed that we would have a semester a full semester at the full quality of education that we have been accustomed to and that would be paid for and that has not been the case We don t have the money for the rest of the semester and while the college of every intention of finishing the semester on time and not early the money isn t there and if that doesn t happen the college the board and the president will be in a breach of our contract THE TWO STUDENTS BEHIND THE PETITION SAY GETTING AN EDUCATION FROM A SCHOOL ON THE BRINK OF FINANCIAL RUIN IS NOT WHAT THEY SIGNED UP FOR AND IF THE COLLEGE CAN T COME UP WITH ENOUGH MONEY TO FINISH OUT THE SEMESTER- THE PETITION COULD TURN INTO A LAWSUIT — TODAY A TASK FORCE FULL OF SUITS — ASSEMBLED BY THE GOVERNOR STROLLED THROUGH CAMPUS — TRYING TO COME UP WITH A WAY TO SAVE THE SCHOOL MOST STUDENTS SAY THEY RE ALREADY PLANNING TO TRANSFER SCHOOLS NEXT YEAR — BUT ARE STILL HOPING FOR THE BEST A lot are working on transferring but there is a loyalty to this place that exists that they are demonstrating that is remarkable many are willing to cancel their plans if by some miracle it reopens in the fall SCHOOL OFFICIALS DID NOT WANT TO GO ON CAMERA- BUT THIS AFTERNOON WE RECEIVED THIS STATEMENT The college believes it has delivered the same high-quality education to its students this semester as we have done for many previous semesters LIVE IN SANTA FE GS EWN4
