Judge Rules on Sioux Issue

A lawsuit to keep the Univeristy of North Dakota Fighting Sioux nickname has been thrown out Northeast District Judge Michael Sturdevant decided to throw out the lawsuit by a group of Spirit Lake tribal members The tribal members wanted the state Board of Higher Education to wait until the official deadline in 2010 to see if an agreement could be reached with the state s two Sioux tribes Judge Sturdevant said in his ruling filed Friday afternoon that the board has the consitutional right to set its own course of action
